Welcome to the Mitloehner Lab

The mission of the Animal Science Department’s Livestock Air Quality Program is to provide scientific research, technical support, and education on current and emerging air quality issues in rural areas of California and the US.

Highlights

Effects of inorganic versus organic trace minerals on greenhouse gas emissions from fresh and land incorporated manure of dairy cows To evaluate the effects of dietary indigestible trace minerals on greenhouse gases emissions from fresh and land incorporated manure. We hypothesize that cows supplemented with organic trace minerals will have lower fecal mineral content. Consequently less GHGs will be emitted from the fresh and land applied manure due to the unavailability of necessary minerals to the microbial.
